Abstrak : Background: LDL Cholesterol levels (LDL-C) and platelet counts in some studies, proved to be directly involved in the process of atherosclerosis. Some researchers suspect, the increase in LDL-C and platelet counts may be a risk factor and complicating factor in coronary heart disease. Based on severity, coronary heart disease divided into two groups, infarct coronary heart disease (those who have suffered heart muscle damage), and non infarct coronary heart disease (those who have suffered heart muscle damage). Objective: To determine whether there are difference LDL-C and platelet counts between patients with infarct coronary heart disease and patients with non infarct coronary heart disease. Methods: This study is a descriptive analytic study with cross sectional design. Data on LDL-C levels and platelet counts obtained from medical records at the Rumah Sakit Jogja Hospital in Yogyakarta. Subjects in this study consisted of 84 patients with infarct coronary heart disease, and 27 patients non infarct coronary heart disease. To determine differences in LDL-C levels and platelet counts between two groups, the Mann Whitney test made for LDL-C levels, and independent sample T test for the platelet counts. Results: The Results showed, the average LDL-C levels for infarct groups were at 133?53, and for non infarct group 139?59. As for platelet counts, mean infarct group 246?79, and non infarct groups 245?93. This indicates there is no difference LDL-C levels between infarct coronary heart disease and non infarct coronary heart disease (P=0.655) (95% CI), and also there is no difference platelets counts between infarct coronary heart disease and non infarct coronary heart disease (P=0.862) (95% CI). Conclusions: There is no significant difference in LDL-C and platelet counts between infarct coronary heart disease and non infarct coronary heart disease. Keywords: Coronary heart disease, LDL-C levels, platelets counts
