| Abstrak | : | Background : Stroke is one of the serious health problem in the society worldwide, with high morbidity and mortality rate. Death in stroke patient most likely found in hemorrhagic stroke, which is around 75%. Many factors are presumes to affect mortality in patients with hemorrhagic stroke, one of which is the degree of awareness. The bleeding which is happened can immediately caused neurogical symptoms due to suppression of nerve structures or inference in central regulator of consciousness in the brain stem. Objectives : To recognize the association between the consciousness rate at the first arrival in the hospital towards mortality in hemorrhagic stroke patient. Method : This study is an observational study, with retrospective descriptive analytic cross sectional design. Sample were obtained from medical records of patients hemorrhagic stroke included in the inclusion criteria at RSUD dr. Soeroto Ngawi period July 2010 - June 2011. Results and Discussion : The research sample with total of 89 hemorrhagic stroke patient?s medical record. Data analysis was conducted using the Mann- Whitney test and chi-square with the assistance of SPSS 19.0 software. From the result obtained for 68,5% (n=61) died and 31,5% (n=28) still alive. In the death group, there were 40 patients with coma and 21 patients were not in coma, with the median value GCS = 5. In the alive group, there were 10 patients with coma and 18 patients were not in coma with median value GCS = 11. From the analysis result, obtained value of p=0,001 on Mann-Whitney test and p=0,008 (OR=3,429 [CI95% 1,344-8,744]) on chi-square test. Conclusion : The consciousness rate at the arrival in the hospital has significant correlation with mortality in hemorrhagic stroke patient, statistically.
