| Abstrak | : | The Relationship Between Age And The Count of Leukocytes In Acute Appendicitis at Jepara Kartini Hospital During January 2009-December 2009. Background : appendicitis is an inflamation of the inner lining from appendix vermiformis which spreads to the other part. There is no single sign, symptom or the accurate diagnosis to confirm appendix inflamation of diagnosis in all cases. Meanwhile, the classic history of anorexia and periumbilical pain followed by nausea, right lower quadrant pain, and vomiting happened only in 50% of cases. In United State, 25000 cases are reported annualy. But Indonesia in 2006 occupies in the fourth as many as 28.949 hospitalized patient in jakarta. It is about 10% of patient appendicitis are less than 10 year old and more than 50 years old. In advanced age, appendicitis appeared in clinical manifestation differently than young patients, ussualy inflamatory response that may indicate reduction in symptoms and sign, the decrease of leukocytosis compared with the young group, so that, the perforation in the elderly is reported increasing till 70% from all cases. Purpose : This study has the goal to know the relationship between the age levels with leukocytes on acute appendicitis patient in Jepara Kartini Hospital during January 2009-December 2009. Methods : The methods of this study is observational, retrospective, descriptive analitic by cross sectional approach and the samples of study are taken from the population of all patients with acute appendicitis who met the inclusion criteria. The data is obtain from medical records of acute appendicitis patient in Jepara Kartini Hospital during January 2009- December 2009. Result and Discussion : 99 sample of patients were obtained, from all the sample, 65 patients included in the study based on inclusion criteria. from 65 patients consists of three groups. They are children (5-18th) 15 patients, the adult (18-45th) 39 patients, the elderly (]45th) 11 patients. By using hypothesis test, Fisher get the result in patients with acute appendicitis, there is no difference between the age with the number of leukocytes in acute appendicitis (P]0,005). Conclusion : This study is found male domination who suffers acute appendicitis and leukocytosis in 51 patients and 24 patient with normal leukocytes. The result of study is not same with hypotesis by researcher because there is no difference between age with the number of leukocytes in acute appendicitis patients Keyword : Appendicitis, acute appendicitis, age, leukocyte. |
