| Abstrak | : | Background: Depression is a major problem that has medical consequences, social, and economic importance. Diseases that often occur with depression include Diabetes Mellitus Type II, hypertension, hepatic and renal function decline.Comorbid disease worsens blood sugar control, increase the occurrence of complications, especially cardiovascular and retinopathy, reduced adherence and worsen quality of life. Changes in central nervous system such as increased activity of monoamine oxydase and reduced concentration of neurotransmitter (especially ketokolaminergik) neurotransmitters may play a role in the occurance of depression in the elderly. Purpose: To determine the correlation of Blood Sugar Level with Depression Score In Elderly Diabetes Mellitus Type II Patient?s at Hospital Dr. Abdul Aziz Singkawang 2012. Methods: The research method used is descriptive analytical, research using the study design used a cross sectional. Affordable population in this study were all patients who suffer from Diabetes Mellitus Type II at Hospital Dr. Abdul Aziz Singkawang 2012. The samples must meet the criteria for inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique used was Accidental sampling method. Results: Of the 75 subjects who entered the study mostly women with 53,3% and the percentage of men as much as 46 % . The results in this study, obtained data are not normally distributed because the value of P [0.05, P value obtained is P = 0.000. Because the data not normally distributed then the spearman correlation test is then performed to see the correlation between glucose levels during and depression score, the results obtained from the obtained value P = 0.000, which means the value of P [0.05 indicates that there is a significant correlation between glucose levels during and depression scores. At this spearman test also found a correlation value of 0.685 which indicates that the force is strong and positive correlation. Conclusion: There was a significant correlation between Blood Sugar Level with Depression Score In Elderly Diabetes Mellitus Type II Patient?s at Hospital Dr. Abdul Aziz Singkawang 2012 the correlation strength of strong, direct correlation with the direction, indicate when blood sugar is high then increase depression scores.
