Abstrak | : | Background: The impact of education paradigm shift to change the curriculum from the Teacher Centered Learning (TCL) to the Student Centered Learning (SCL) in that requires students to be more active in self-directed learning. In the PBL system which is a system that has been applied in health education system, requires students to become self-directed learners, and have the self-learning readiness. In learning activities in the Medical Faculty of Islamic University of Indonesia (FKUII), the activities of clinical skill is one of method teaching soft skills to practice students to become a competent doctors in the future Purpose: To know the relationship between the level of student self-directed in learning towards the value of clinical skills in a third-year student at the Medical Faculty of Islamic University of Indonesia Methods: This research was descriptive analysis with quantitative research design. Sampling method, used a systematic random sampling. Data was analysis with Pearson correlation test because the data are normally distributed. Samples in this study were students that still active in the Medical Faculty of Islamic University of Indonesia year of 2009 , total subject was 149 people. Collected of data by using questionnaires Self Directed Learning Readiness Scale (SDLRS) and clinical skills test scores. Results: The analysis showed a significant relation between the level of student self-directed in learning towards the value of clinical skills, which means the higher the level of student self-directed in learning, the higher the value of clinical skills, and the lower level of self-directed in learning, the more low value of clinical skills are achieved, with the value of correlation r = 0.399 and a significant value of p = 0.000 (p [0.01). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the level of students self-directed in learning towards the value of medical skills in a third-year student at the Medical Faculty .of Islamic University of Indonesia.
