Abstrak : Background: Disease Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is one of an infections disease caused by dengue virus is transmitted from one person to another through the bite of a mosquito Ae. Aegypti. Since 1968 until 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) noted Indonesian as a country with the highest cases of dengue fever in Southeast Asia. Of the total cases, approximately 95% occurred in children under 15 years old. Still difficult to diagnose dengue infection in children and in particular will result in high mortality due to dengue infection in children because of delayed in treatment. Objectives: This study aims to determine factors that affect the length of hospitalization of dengue hemorrhagic fever patients of child in Panembahan Senopati Hospital of Bantul. Method: The method of study is an observational study, the analytical descriptive method with cross sectional approach to the study sample was taken using a sample size formula for the nominal data of the population of the patients with dengue hemorrhagic fever children who met the inclusion criteria. Data obtained from medical records of patients of dengue hemorrhagic fever in children in Panembahan Senopati Hospital of Bantul period January to December 2010. Results and Discussion: The results obtain of the 96 dengue patients of a child is dengue hemorrhagic fever, there is no association between old age with hospitalized dengue hemorrhagic fever in children. Beside that, there is no statistically significant differences for sex with a long hospitalization of dengue hemorrhagic fever in children, the relationship of clinical characteristic such a nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, melena, and pain in the head with a long hospitalization of dengue hemorrhagic fever in children is also there were no statistically significant differences, as well as the degree of relationship of dengue hemorrhagic fever or hematocrit test results with long hospitalization of dengue hemorrhagic fever in children found no statistically significant differences. There is statistically significant difference of degrees of dengue hemorrhagic fever and the characteristic clinical features such as petechiae, and hepatomegaly in a child dengue hemorrhagic fever. Conclusion: There is no association between age, sex and clinical description such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, melena, and painfull in head with along hospitalization of dengue hemorrhagic fever in children. Fever is the most common clinical description occurs in each of dengue hemorrhagic fever infection in children. The results of laboratory tests to increase hematocrit levels in dengue fever infection of children there is no statistically significant differences. Differences of statistically from this study only found in the degree of DHF and clinically description such as petechiae and hepatomegaly with the average length of DHF hospitalization for the 1st degrees : 4.56, 2nd degrees : 6.89, 3rd degrees : 8.12, and 4th degrees : 8.93. while the average length of hospitalization clinically description such as petechiae : 7.23 and hepatomegaly : 7.20.
