| Abstrak | : | Background: Along with the stigma in the society, that increasingly positive in maintaining health with natural ingredients, it is important to do studies on natural ingredients. Cassava leaves is one of natural ingredient that is encountered and consumed frequently by the people in Indonesia. Cassava leaves contains flavonoids, saponins, vitamin C, and ?-carotene, some of these compounds have potential as an antioxidant. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activities from the extract of the cassava?s leaves (Manihot esculenta) on the experimental animals, the male wistar rat strain-induced CCl4. Methods: This study is pure experimental research. The study designed with a pretest-post test control group (pretest-post test with control group). Another 25 rats were divided into 5 groups, group I was the negative control group treated with distilled water 1ml/200grBB treatment, group II were treated with extract of cassava?s leaves ethanol dose 0.6 mg/200grBB/1ml distilled water, group III extract dose is 1.2 mg/200grBB / 1ml distilled water, group IV extract dose is 2.4 mg/200grBB/1ml distilled water, V is the positive control group treated with pure vitamin E. Measured levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) beginning day 0, followed by intervention on day 1 to day 5, the induction of CCl4 on the 6th day, and continued measurement of the final MDA levels on day 7. Decreased levels of MDA were analyzed with statistical analysis Kruskal-Wallis method. Results: The smallest dose of ethanol extract of cassava?s leaves is mg/200grBB/1 0.6 ml of distilled water, has antioxidant activity compared with other groups. It has statisticaly significant differences with values Sig.0, 019 (p [0.05). Conclusion: Ethanol extract of cassava?s leaves have antioxidant activity when given in small doses, it was indicated by decreased levels of MDA in the rat (Rattus novergicus) male wistar strain-induced CCl4.
