| Abstrak | : | Worm infection one of them was caused by hookworms in Indonesia. The prevalence of hookworm infections in Indonesia was high. These worm infections could result the decrease of health conditions, nutrition, intelligence and productivity of people. People still faced difficulty in obtained adequate treatment, especially remote areas. Therefore, it needed to examine the alternative medicine used for traditional plants .Alternative drug for worm disease was using the seed of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.). Objectives of this research such as, First was to know the cucumber seed (Cucumis saivus, L.) had the antihelmintic ability against the hookworms. Second was to know the LC 50 and LC 90 then the third was to know LT 50 and LT 90 of cucumber seed (Cucumis saivus, L.) with varied concentrations (100%, 50%, 25%, and 12,5%). This experimental research using 6 experimental groups. 4 experimental groups with 100%, 50%, 25%, and 12,5% cucumber seed essence concentrations, 1 positive control group with 0,236% pirantel pamoat and also 1 negative control group with 0,9% NaCl in solution. The period of observation was determined by preliminary test results of a long life in the hookworms of 0.9% NaCl in solution that were continued by the primary test with 4 times of replication in every concentration in solution. The data obtained were put into the tables and analyzed using One Way Annova analysis method, the LSD Post Hoc Test and the Probit analysis. The observation result shows that the cucumber seed (Cucumis saivus, L.) had the antihelmintic ability against the hookworms. LC50 and LC90 of the cucumber seed essence were respectively 18.8% and 51.7%. Moreover, for LT50 the concentration of 12.5%, 25%, and 50% were respectively 253.26 minutes, 167.24 minutes and 65.08 minutes. For LT90 of the concentration of 12.5%, 25%, and 50% are respectively 475.72 min, 317.64 minutes and 162.96 minutes. While for the concentration of 100% within 60 minutes of cucumber seeds essence was able to kill all the worms. Keywords : Antihelmintic ability, Cucumis sativus, L., hookworms, in Vitro |
