| Abstrak | : | Background : Maternal mortality is one of the health problems that continue to concern the world community. Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in childbirth is one determinant of health status indicators of a country. According to data from Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey in 2007 (SDKI 2007), Maternal Mortality in Indonesia is 228 death/100.000 live births. The causes of maternal mortality in Indonesia which is quite high because of bleeding, hypertension in pregnancy, infections, and others. Hypertension in pregnancy, including preeclampsia, ranked second of all causes of maternal death. Hypertension as the main symptoms adversely affected the fetus. Decreased uteroplacental perfusion may lead to intra-uterine fetal growth impairment and increased risk of perinatal death. Objective : The purpose of this research is trying to know is there any relationship between mothers who experienced preeclampsia with a condition of low birth weight in infants. Method : Sampling was done by using non-random with proporsive method (method of determination of the sample based on certain criteria) according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion of the population obtained all cases of pregnancy and birth as many as 321. With the inclusion-exclusion as much as 69 who had preeclampsia. The data was collected through secondary data, namely medical records (RM). The analyzing techniques used are statistical analysis using chi square test. The statistic calculations program used to calculated the statistic test is SPSS version 17 and chi square. Result : The results of this study shows that there is a relationship between mothers who experienced preeclampsia with a condition of low birth weight in infants (sig / significicance [ 0.05) with a probability value (Sig.) = 0.003 which is smaller than the value of alpha 0.05. Conclussion : Preeclampsia in women at risk for babies with low birth weight. However, many factors other than pre-eclampsia can also affect the occurrence of LBW.
