| Abstrak | : | Background : The textile industry is growing rapidly especially in developing countries including Indonesia. Textile workers are at greater risk of respiratory symptoms affected from exposure to cotton dust which is called bisinosis. The high levels of cotton dust which is inhaled among textile workers certainly affect bisinosis prevalence. Respiratory problems will be very detrimental to health workers and labor productivity in the textile industry. Objectives : The purpose of this study was to search relation of bisinosis prevalence on textile workers against the level of cotton dust exposure on textile workers at work. Methods : A cross-sectional study design was conducted among 36 workers selected through the inclusion and exclusion criteria. 36 workers were from the warping and weaving which have different levels of cotton dust. 2 types of questionnaires used. The first is used to filter the sample and the second is used to determine information about the bisinosis symptoms on the sample. Processing data using SPSS and to determine the relationship bisinosis prevalence against cotton dust exposure levels with Fisher test. Results : The bisinosis prevalence found about 13.9% (5 of 36 workers). The cotton dust levels in weaving and warping is 1.38 mg / m? and 0.92 mg / m?. There is a significant relationship between the bisinosis prevalence against cotton dust exposure levels (p=0.045). Conclusion : A significant relationship was found between the bisinosis prevalence against cotton dust exposure levels. Keywords : bisinosis, cotton dust, textile workers |
