| Abstrak | : | A research on the effectiveness of clove essential oil to inhibit the growth of lichenes on stone conservation have been carried out. Essential oil of clove leaf is made into the test solution concentration of 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 25% using a solvent of tween 80 9% + distilled water, where tween 80 is a surfactant to decrease the surface tension between oil and distilled water. Lichenes in which is a mutualistic symbiosis between fungi and algae (algae), scraped from the substrate stone of Lichenes perfomed in a steril, then fungi of lichenes grown on PDA. family of fungi were analyzed using microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Test solutions used for antifungal test in cultured fungi have been obtained from lichenes using the diffusion method and field, where the rock substrate was analyzed before and after the application using the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The results showed that the essential oil at a concentration of 1, 5, 10, 15, 15% can inhibit the growth of fungi of Lichenes, provided an inhibitory effect on the antifungal test using the diffusion method. The diameter of zone of inhibition at each concentration of 5.5 mm, 7.0 mm, 12 mm, 20 mm, 23 mm. Lichenes fungus Penicillium sp identified a family.While in the field test, each of the test solution concentration of 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 25% also provide inhibitory effect wherein after surface application lichenes become withered, discolored and dry. The optimum concentration of the test solution used for the study is the concentration of 25%. Keywords: Lichenes, essential oils, clove leaf |
