| Abstrak | : | Research has been conducted on the effects of bottle color and addition of olive oil for bait based on purple basil oil (Ocimum Canum, Sims) on fruitfly trapper method. This purple basil oil contains methyl eugenol which serves as a fruit fly attractant. Fruit fly itself was a major pest in horticultural crops. Testing was done with a fruit fly trap made from a plastic bottle with a bright color (transparent) and dark (blue). In addition, olive oil was added at each variation of methyl eugenol concentration used. Olive oil has synergistic properties of the purple basil oil, which can enhance aroma and resilience of purple basil oil itself. This study tested on 2 different melon farms but with same weather and temperature for a week. Objective used 2 different melon farms in order to have a high percentage of effectiveness. From this study it was found that traps with bright colors (transparent) can attract fruit flies more than dark colors, which was on the melon farm A was earned 82 fruit flies on light color trap and 38 on dark color trap, and in the melon farms B was earned 132 fruit flies on light color trap and 79 on dark color trap. The addition of olive oil was very influential in the fruit fly trapping, because olive oil here can enhance the aroma and resilience of purple basil oil itself.
