Abstrak : DEP and DBP is a type of phthalates found in many cosmetic products one of which is the product of deodorant. However, DEP and DBP can cause toxic effects on several organs such as the kidneys, liver, central nervous disorders, and disorders of the central nervous system. This study aims to determine the content and estimated exposure of DEP and DBP on deodorant product with methods that are effective, efficient, and has good verification. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) UV detector is the method used in this study. In this study, using a wavelength of 230 nm by using a mobile phase mixture of aquabidest sterile , acetonitrile, 2-propanol, and methanol (30: 45: 20: 5), run time 17 minutes and C18 columns. The method of analysis used to have good verification in accordance with the criteria of AOAC with linearity is 0,995, precision is 6,29% and accuracy is 93,61% -118,23%. Concentration of DEP in sample deodorant spray is 2,37 mg/kg of product. Estimated of the level of exposure to diethyl phthalate in a sample deodorant spray estimated 0,014 mg/kg bw/day, showed results lower than those which are prescribed by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATDSR) (DEP 7000 mg/kg bw/day). DEP in the sample can still be said to be safe based on the Margin of Safety (MoS). Although the estimation of exposure phthalate compounds showed low yield, but still need supervision and monitoring of the government against the use of phthalate compounds in cosmetic products.
