Abstrak : Preparation of TiO2-Kaolinite (Ti/Kao) has been successfully carried out and used as a photocatalyst in disinfection of E. coli. Preparation of TiO2-Kaolinite was started by adding titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTiP) precursor solution into kaolinite suspension. TiO2-Kaolinite was characterized using XRD, BET, SEM-EDX and its activity tested on E.coli by MPN method. Materials tested are TiO2-Kaolinite byconcentration ratio of 5%, 10%, and 20%. E.coli disinfection testwas conducted by photocatalyst Ti/Kao weight variationof 0.1 grams, 0.3 grams and 0.6 grams in UV light contact which comparedbypure E. coliin without UV, pure TiO2 and Kaolinite in UV light. Results of XRD analysis onTi/Kao of 5%, 10% and 20%shows a shift of 2. peak as lean peak in diffactogram. BET analysis shows an specific surface area increase as 22.105 m2/g; 28.378 m2/g; 40.928 m2/g for Ti/Kao of 5%, 10%, 20%, and kaolinite subsequently. Analysis using SEM-EDX shows morphological changes after immobilization of TiO2 in kaolinite and increase of Ti levels as 3.27%; 8.11% and 17.19%. On bacteria test, variation of concentration and weight of Ti/Kao shows a significant effectin disinfection of bacteria with Ti/Kao 20% as 0.6 grams is most effective as photocatalyst.
