| Abstrak | : | Pesticides are chemical substances (substances stimulating plant growth regulators and growing), microscopic organisms, viruses and other substances used to make the protection of plants or parts of plants. Dependence of farmers on pesticides is still high and consequently appear several negative impacts, including environmental pollution resulting in disruption of the balance of ecosystems, natural enemies and killing of non-target insect. Indonesia is a famous producer of essential oils in the world. Oil of basil leaves purple one example. Extracts of basil leaves (Ocimum santum) indicated methyl eugenol-containing compounds. Methyl eugenol is a compound known as semio chemicals. Semio chemical can affect insect behavior, such as food-seeking behavior, lay eggs, and other sexual relations, one of the ingredients are methyl eugenol (C11H12O8) which is a fruit fly attractant that can stimulate the olfactory (sensor) insects. The addition of pure coconut oil or better known as the VCO with methyl eugenol from basil and purple color variations bottle FFT (fruitflytrapper) may influence of effectiveness as a fruit fly attractant than just using methyl eugenol obtained from purple basil plants.
