Abstrak | : | Captopril was a class of ACE (angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitors for hypertension treatment that suppress angiotensin-aldosterone system. Captopril has a short half-life time about 2 hour so as to prolong the effects need to be formulated in a sustained release dosage form in the stomach in the long term. This study aims to determine effect of combination of polymers HPMC K4M and HPMC K15M as forming matrix on the physical properties of granules and tablets as well as determination of the optimum formula area. Captopril sustained release tablet formulation was made by using a floating system. Optimization methods that conducted were simplex lattice design with optimizing two components, namely HPMC K4M with levels of 0-150 mg and HPMC K15M with levels of 0-150 mg. Determination of optimum formula area was determined based on the superimposed contour plots of various parameters such as: granule flow properties, tablets physical properties, lag time floating and speed the release of captopril using Design Expert? program. Based on superimposed contour plots obtained optimum area on the formula 3 which meets the requirements of granules and tablets physical properties.
