Abstrak : Health experts around the world said that smoking is dangerous behavior. Surveys from The Global Youth Tobacco in 2006, describe that more than a third of students reported as a smokers, and there are 3 out of 10 students stated the first time smoking at age under 10 years, in addition the agency also said that in Indonesia 64.2% children have been exposed by smoke at their home or become passive smokers. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of educational administration using oral method of lecturing with smart games education method against the knowledge of elementary school students about the dangers of smoking. The study was conducted in the Turi subdistrict, Sleman in September to October 2014. This study was an experimental study method using a pretest and post-test design. The intervention divided into two treatment groups, the first group is the group receiving education using oral method, while the second group is a group who received education using smart games education method. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to see the differences in student?s knowledge about the dangers of smoking, while to determine the effectiveness of two methods of analysis using the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the oral method and the smart games education method have a significant influence on the respondents' awareness of the dangers of smoking. Both methods have the same p value is 0.000 [a 0.05. As for the effectiveness of the method itself, is not a significant difference. This is evident from the resulting p value is 0.561] 0.005. From the study it can be concluded that the method of smart games have better effectiveness. Key words : Education method, smart games, smoke, knowledge, effectiveness
