| Abstrak | : | The fact of respiratory disturbance is one of the symptoms of disease which often occurs in the people from various groups and age. Unspecific symptoms appears due to respiratory disorder is hypersceretion of mucus that its consistency more viscous than usual and could clog the respiratory tract. Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) is plants that many being reared in Indonesia, which was also used as cough medicine by the natives traditionally. This research aims to know that there is a mucolitic activity and concentration of ethanolic extract of purple roselle calyx towards cow intestine mucus by in vitro. Groups solution test differentiated based on concentration extract and 3 solution controls. The treatment will be added with extract ethanolic of purple roselle calyx with each of them concentration 0.1; 0.2; 0.4% into solution of buffer phosphate -mucus in 80%b/b. Positive control asetilsistein added 0.1%, controls negative only added tween 80 1%, blank contains buffer phosphate solution - mucus 80%b/b. Results of the study showed that extract ethanolic of purple roselle calyx each of them was 32.03, 34.35, and 39.16%.
