| Abstrak | : | Dengue fever is a deadly disease in Indonesia to prevent dengue fever can be done by preventing the Aedes aegypti mosquito bites by using repellent. Almost all circulating in Indonesia repellent active ingredient DEET (Diethyl toluamide) which may cause irritation to the eyes and can cause a burning sensation on the skin that is injured. To prevent these effects can be replaced with natural materials only plant one clove (Syzygium aromaticum), but every preparation necessary to test the security of one of them with a primary irritation test. The study was conducted to determine primary irritation index of clove essential oils that can give the effect of repellent on a volume of 0.1 mL were applied to the skin of rabbits 30cm2. This study was conducted with 12 rabbits were divided into 2 equal groups namely incision and non-incision. Sheared rabbit 1 in2 as many as 6 boxes and smeared by distilled water, base, essential oil 1.5%, 3%, 6%, and 8%. Observations were made at hours 24 and 72, the results of this study were observed by three observers. The observation of three observers searched median and performed calculations to obtain a primary irritation index of distilled water, the base, the concentration of 1.5%, 3%, 6%, and 8% respectively of 0.416, 1.167, 1.158, 2.083, 2.416, and 2.916 . The conclusion is distilled water entry Categories irritation barely visible, the control base and concentration of 1.5% is included in the category of irritation appear, and the concentration of 3%, 6%, and 8% are included in the category of mild irritation.
