| Abstrak | : | Standardization is a process ensuring the final product from plant (drug, extract, or extract products) has a constant value of certain parameters which has been designed and predetermined. The objectives of this study were to determine the values of specific and non-specific parameters of the ethanol extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. calyces, and to compare the values which were obtained from this study with the references. Roselle calyces obtained from Campurdarat, Tulungagung, East Java, were macerated with ethanol 70%, then, were standardized based on specific and non-specific parameters. This study revealed that the ethanol extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. calyces was liquid and viscous, has dark red color with distinctive odor, and a bitter-sour taste. Furthermore, the total anthocyanin of extract was ?0.001857%, the density of extract was 1.439?0.009 gram/mL, the average moisture was 9.71?0.14%, the total ash of extract was 3.842?0.090%, the acid insoluble ash of extract was 0.214?0.028%, and no heavy metal (Pb and Cd) detected. The total bacteria contamination, most probably number (MPN) of coliform test, total mold and yeast contamination were not detected. Residual solvent test showed a negative result. Based on all of the test, both specific and non-specific parameters indicated that the ethanol extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. calyces has met the standard which are required by the Indonesia National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) and other references, except for the total anthocyanin and ash levels.
