| Abstrak | : | Benzodiazepine is a substance with many benefits, often prescribed in the world due to anti-anxiety, hypnotic and anticonvulsant effects. Its fast and effective properties are also why doctors prescribe these drugs. Benzodiazepine is often prescribed as a mixture for medication of patients with stomach disorder (psychosomatic symptom) and patients with heart disorder and anxiety. The use of benzodiazepine in the world is often irrational. If these drugs are used in a long duration and large dose, they will lower patients? quality of life. Problems in clinics often occur in the use of drugs, so a study on the use of benzodiazepine group drugs on outpatients in Yogyakarta General Hospital was conducted. This study was aimed to discover the pattern of Benzodiazepine group drugs prescribing and conformity of use in terms of indication, dosage, and length of use. The method used in this study was descriptive, study design cross sectional and data collection was retrospective. Conformity reference assessment in this study was based on Program on Substance Abuse. Rational Use of Benzodiazepine of World Health Organization, dosage from Drug Information Handbook and AHFS Drug Information 2005. The result showed that the largest use of benzodiazepine was alprazolam 39%. The largest benzodiazepine prescribing pattern was one type of benzodiazepine in a prescription, which was alprazolam. Conformity of oral benzodiazepine group drugs prescribing based on indication parameter was: 65.5%, age: 92%, dosage: 80% and duration: 49%.
