Abstrak : Transdermal delivery of ibuprofen is an alternative to avoid side effects caused by oral route, improve patient compliance, and to help patients who can not use drugs orally. The aims of this study were to investigate the effect of Transcutol in nanoemulsion to permeation ability of ibuprofen and to investigate the comparison of Tween 80 and Transcutol providing the best permeation ability of ibuprofen. Ibuprofen nanoemulsion was formulated with concentration variation of Tween 80 and Transcutol FI(1:0), FII(1:1), FIII(1:2). Physical properties, content and permeation of nanoemulsion were tested. The result of physical properties test were analyzed by descriptively and One Way ANOVA, while the content and permeation test were analyzed by One Way ANOVA with 95% confidence level. Globule size of FI, FII, and FIII are 22,41nm, 15,33nm, and 14,33nm, respectively with polidispersity index of all formulas indicate the monodisperse characteristic. Zeta potential of each formula into the range of ?5-15mV which indicates limited flocculation. Permeation test showed FIII has the greatest flux and Kp (750,27?g.cm. The comparison Tween 80 and Transcutol and also addition of Transcutol in nanoemulsion do not influence the permeation rate and permeability coefficient of ibuprofen in nanoemulsion formulations (P]0,05). -2.h-1; 0,037cm.h-1) when compared to FII(726,77?g.cm-2.h-1; 0,036cm.h-1) and FI(703,53?g.cm-2.h-1; 0,035cm.h-1)Keywords: transdermal, nanoemulsion, ibuprofen, Tween 80, Transcutol
