| Abstrak | : | Inflammation is a process of leukocyte migration when there is trauma in the tissue. Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease caused by the oxidation of LDL. Inflammatory reaction became therapeutic option to treat atherosclerosis by the inhibition of leukocyte migration.. One of the plants that are known to have anti-inflammatory activity is daun sendok (Plantago major, L). terpenoid, polyphenols, ursulat acids, and terpenoids are the compounds that act as anti-inflammatory of daun sendok. Anti-inflammatory activity was performed using male swiss mice. Mice were divided into 7 groups and consists of 5 mice each group. Hexane soluble fraction of daun sendok with dose 104,8; 302; dan 476,6 mg/KgBW p.o was given 2 hours before the induction of thioglikolat 4% ip, Indometasin10 mg / kgBW orally (as a positive control), 10% DMSO p.o (as a solvent control). Total leukocytes counted using a haemocytometer. Total leukocytes were statistically analyzed by ANOVA followed by LSD. The results showed that the hexane soluble fraction in dichloromethane extract daun sendok at each dose are able to decrease leukocyte migration which can be seen from the decrease in the number of leukocytes to the negative group but its activity in reducing leukocyte migration under the indomethacin group.
