| Abstrak | : | The majority of patients with schizophrenia use pharmacotherapy treatment, but treatment with typical antipsychotics have neurologic side effects high, while the atypical antipsychotics is still questionable because it can lead to a tendency to induce weight gain and alter the metabolism of sugars and fats. Non-pharmacological treatment with ECT gives good effectiveness but is still controversial in patients with cardiovascular disorders. The purpose of this study is to compare the use and effectiveness of antipsychotics with ECT combined with antipsychotics in the treatment of schizophrenia in the Hospital Dr. Sardjito in 2010-2013. This study is an observational study with retrospective data collection. Data were analyzed using the Mann Whitney analysis and Chi Square. Of the 180 patients as much as 48.89% of patients using antipsychotic combination therapy and ECT. On average patients using combination therapy ECT improved on day 3 whereas patients without ECT therapy are seen improvement on day 4. Based on the average results of the study of antipsychotic effectiveness is 90.37% while the effectiveness of antipsychotic combination of ECT is 90.67% (0.937] 0.005), although not significantly different but ECT combination antipsychotic therapy is more effective than a single antipsychotic therapy Key word :ECT, Schizophrenia, Antipsychotic combination ECT |
