Abstrak : When lateral loads applied to multistory frames, it increases lateral displacements significantly. In reducing the displacement, the combination of open frame and shear wall systems essentially needs to be applied. In general, the existance of shear walls on open frames may reduce lateral displacements. To control the effects of displacement on upper part of structure, the outrigger and belt shear wall systems were used. The application of the system was varied vertically depending on vertical setbacks provided. In this research, four variations of vertical setback (5, 10, 15 and 20 floors) were investigated. The lower part of building was specified of 15 floors, whilst the upper part is dependent on vertical setbacks. Instead of the aforementioned setback variations, the open frame structure was then combined with core shear wall, outrigger and core shear wall-outrigger system resulting load-displacement responses on 9 combinations of frame structural systems. The purpose of structural frame combinations is to reduce lateral displacements based on earthquake load directions. Based on the load-displacement response at each frame combinations, story drifts at each level were computed and plotted in a graph. The 3D structural analysis was carried out by ETABS software. The result shows that the open frames combined with core shear wall-outrigger having 5, 10, 15 vertical setbacks significanly reduce 12,68%, 30,31% and 17,51% of lateral displacement respectively. In contrast, the open frame combined with outrigger and 20 vertical setbacks reduces 15,22% of lateral displacement. Keywords: setback, open frame, outrigger, shear wall, displacement, story drift
