Abstrak : Final Disposal of Waste (landfill) is one of the waste management system applied in Indonesia. Elimination of waste into the soil is generally done by stockpiling known as landfilling. Waste that dumped in a certain period of time will have decay and in the process will bring dangerous substances are highly concentrated result of seepage from waste or what is known as leachate. Leachate if not controlled will contaminate the environment, especially surface water and underground water. The quality and quantity of leachate is strongly influenced by the composition of waste, precipitation, rubbish cover and other. This study uses landfill columns in series as the original landfill simulation approach to determine the effect of age of waste include pH, and concentrations of BOD, COD, and TSS in urban waste biodegradation. Variations in the age of waste that is used for each column, the age of waste [1 year, 1-2 years, 2-5 years of age and ] 5 years. Leachate sampling is done every once a week with the addition of 2490 ml water / week. From the results of the study, the age effect of waste on the pH value, and the concentration of BOD, COD, and TSS. Basically the longer the life of waste, then the pH value will increase from acidic to neutral and alkaline, and the concentration of BOD, COD, and TSS is slowly decreasing. The highest concentration of pH, concentration of BOD, COD, and TSS occurred at week -2 till week -4, then at weeks 5 and 6. a decline. This can occur due to decreased degradation by bacteria in aerobic and anaerobic phases so that the concentration of BOD, COD, TSS declined and the valueof pH tends to be neutral and alkaline.
