| Abstrak | : | This study was aimed to examine the correlation between social support and motivation in the thesis preparation of the abroad students. Initial assumptions proposed in this study is there was a positive relationship between social support and motivation in the thesis preparation of the abroad students. The higher the social support, the higher the motivation of abroad students in preparing the thesis. The subjects in this study were students majoring in Psychology at University of Islam Indonesia who were writing thesis and abroad. The scale of motivation totalling 33 items based on aspects of motivation by Sardiman (2001), whereas the scale of social support totaling 44 items based on aspects of social support according to House (Smet, 1994). Method of data analysis applied in this study was using SPSS 18.0 program to test whether there was a positive relationship between social support and motivation in the thesis preparation of the abroad students. Product moment correlation of Pearson shows the value of R = 0.357 with p = 0.012 (p [0.05), which means there was a significant positive relationship between social support and motivation in the thesis preparation of the abroad students, as a result that the hypothesis is accepted.
